Coming Fall 2019
Flexible Press is seeking Minnesota-connected short stories, memoir, poetry, and plays for this upcoming anthology. 100 percent of profits will go to Alliance Housing http://www.alliancehousinginc.org/, a Minneapolis non-profit dedicated to making it possible for individuals and families to create homes for themselves, regardless of income and background.
The piece must somehow address the subject of Home and what that means. And, it needs to have a Minnesota connection, with the author being from the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes and/or the piece connecting to the state in some way.
The anthology will present a wide of a range of experiences as possible—young an old, all races and ethnicities, people who have always been here, fourth generation Swedes and new arrivals. In other words, Minnesotans.
To that end, massive writing credits are less important that a unique voice, especially one from a traditionally underrepresented community. Hemmingway is great; an authentic voice is even better.
Please submit no more than one short story or memoir of under 7500 words, three poems, or any other content that fits the theme.
Simultaneous submissions are not only allowed, it’s encouraged.
And—now get this—previously published work is welcome if you have copyright. Let us know where and when it was published.
Stories arriving through this submission process will be reviewed blind. In other words, no name or contact information should be on the missive. Please include a cover letter and brief bio in the body of your email.
We have no money so payment is one contributor’s copy. This could change—we could land a grant or something—but I wouldn’t count on it.
You keep the copyright, but give us one-time rights for print, e-Book, and promotion.
Attach your story in Word or PDF and submit by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Put in the subject line, “Home Submission.”
DEADLINE: May 15, 2019.
